Position Overview

Perform internal audits ensuring First Western Bank & Trust’s departmental policies and procedures are operating according to safety and soundness guidelines and internal control standards.
Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct audits of Bank, Insurance, Trust and Leasing operational areas to ensure proper policies and procedures are being followed
  • Examine departmental records and interview workers to ensure transactions are in compliance with state laws and federal regulations
  • Perform audits according to the audit schedule and prepare findings reports
  • Provide objective and practical recommendations for management action based on findings
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of any operational or regulatory deficiencies
  • Assist with providing data and information to external examiners
  • Work with departments to ensure audit and exam corrections are implemented
  • Conduct investigations of suspected fraudulent or suspicious activity as requested
  • Stay informed of developments in federal and state agency examination requirements
  • Assist Chief Risk Officer/Internal Audit and Compliance Manager with policy development as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations and the Bank’s policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act
  • Maintain continuing education related to regulatory standards

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business-related field, preferred but not required
  • Minimum two years of auditing experience or an acceptable combination of education and relevant banking experience
  • CCBIA – Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor or equivalent credentials preferred
 
Skills/Abilities
  • Basic understanding of bank accounting practices, record keeping requirements, and fundamental principles of internal control
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assess and identify risks
  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Confidentiality and tactfulness in dealing with bank and customer information is mandatory
  • Computer processing skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (i.e. Excel, Word)

Position Overview

Develop new agricultural loan business for First Western Bank & Trust through securing, structuring, and closing loans, as well as maintain and service existing Ag lending portfolio

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct sales calls and meet with prospective and existing customers to establish new loan business
  • Represent the bank in local community and at agriculture meetings and events to market the bank’s products, services and expertise
  • Administer individual loan portfolio including agriculture, agri-business, and other assigned loans
  • Responsible for managing all new loan relationships and assigned relationships
  • Responsible for servicing all performing and non-performing loans within individual loan portfolio
  • Interview loan customers to determine lending needs
  • Work with the Farm Service Agency, Small Business Administration and Bank of North Dakota to qualify customers for available lending programs
  • Negotiate direct lending terms as well as collateral and payment structures
  • Meet with customers to request information for loan applications, credit reports, background checks and other information needed for loan evaluation
  • Compile financial information including income tax records, balance sheets, annual cash flow budgets, and other data to create loan spreads
  • Analyze applicant financial status and conduct collateral evaluations to make lending decisions
  • Approve credits up to authorized lending limit and prepare those that exceed limits for loan committee and/or Board approval
  • Assemble and maintain complete loan files
  • Conduct loan reviews on existing customers annually
  • Maintain customer relationships through regular communication and follow up contact
  • Collaborate with management on loan policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvement
  • Review loan reports to determine the status of payment and work with customers to collect outstanding balances
  • Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations and the Bank’s policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act
  • Maintain continuing education related to regulatory standards

Other Duties

  • Conduct site visits and collateral inspections as necessary
  • Solicit hail insurance and sell policies
  • Cross-sell customers to other banking products and services

Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience in bank lending, loan review, compliance or finance
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and credit standards
  • Knowledge of agriculture industry preferred

  • Ability to define problems, facts and draw valid conclusions
